Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using Tax2Books. By accessing or using the service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Service Description

Tax2Books is a cloud-based accounting and bookkeeping platform operated by Tax2Books (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). The service provides general ledger management, financial reporting, bank feed integration, 1099 tracking, IRS form line mapping, job costing, and related accounting tools designed for US-based accountants and their clients.

The service is provided on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) basis, accessible via a web browser. No software installation is required. Availability is subject to scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

2. Account Terms

You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account. You must be a human; accounts registered by automated methods are not permitted.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify us immediately at security@tax2books.com if you become aware of any unauthorized access to your account.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including activity by users you have granted access to your companies within the platform.

You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and keep that information current. Accounts with false information may be suspended.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Tax2Books to:

  • Engage in any fraudulent activity, including misrepresenting financial data or using the platform to facilitate financial fraud
  • Violate any applicable law or regulation, including tax laws, securities laws, or money-laundering regulations
  • Store, transmit, or process data on behalf of others in violation of applicable privacy laws
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service, other accounts, or related systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service or the data contained therein
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the service
  • Resell or sublicense access to the service without our prior written authorization

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this acceptable use policy without prior notice.

4. Intellectual Property

The Tax2Books platform, including its software, design, user interface, documentation, and all related materials, is the exclusive property of Tax2Books and its licensors. All rights are reserved.

Your use of the service does not grant you any ownership or intellectual property rights in the service or its components. The Tax2Books name, logo, and related marks are trademarks of Tax2Books and may not be used without prior written permission.

You retain full intellectual property rights to all data, records, and financial information you enter into the platform. By using the service, you grant Tax2Books a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and transmit your data solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

5. Data Ownership

Your data belongs to you. All financial records, journal entries, reports, and documents you create or import into Tax2Books remain your property at all times.

We will not sell, share, or disclose your financial data to third parties except as required to: (a) provide the service (e.g., bank feed integrations via Plaid); (b) comply with applicable law or valid legal process; or (c) protect the rights, property, or safety of Tax2Books, its users, or the public.

You may export your complete data at any time in standard formats (CSV, PDF). We will not impose export fees or technical barriers to accessing your own data.

Upon account termination, your data will be retained for 90 days to allow final export, after which it will be permanently deleted from our systems unless retention is required by law.

6. Payment Terms

Tax2Books is currently in public beta. During the beta period, all features are available at no charge. No billing information is required during beta.

When the service transitions to paid plans, we will provide at least 60 days advance notice. Paid plans will require a valid payment method on file. Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance. Prices are subject to change with 30 days notice.

Refunds for annual plans cancelled within 30 days of the billing date will be prorated. Monthly plans are not refundable for the current billing period.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tax2Books and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of data, or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of the service.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amounts you paid to us for the service in the twelve months preceding the claim, or $100 if no amounts have been paid.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

8. Professional Disclaimer

Important Notice

Tax2Books is an accounting and bookkeeping tool. It does not provide tax advice, legal advice, financial advice, or accounting advice. The platform is designed to help organize and present financial data — it is not a substitute for the judgment of a qualified tax professional, certified public accountant, or attorney.

Consult a qualified professional for specific guidance regarding your tax obligations, financial reporting requirements, or regulatory compliance. Tax2Books shall not be liable for any tax liability, penalties, or interest arising from your use of the platform.

9. Termination

You may cancel your account at any time through the account settings page. Upon cancellation, your access to the service will continue until the end of the current billing period.

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if required by applicable law. We will provide reasonable notice before termination except where immediate action is required to protect the security or integrity of the service.

Upon termination, your right to access the service ceases immediately. Data retention and deletion follow the terms described in Section 5.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email and by posting a notice on the platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the service after the effective date of the revised terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the revised terms, you must stop using the service before the effective date.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to these terms or your use of the service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
